Hari Kumar Shrestha

(May 2010)

Hari is 40 years old, married and has four children (three sons and a daughter). He lives with his family in Bohora Ghaun, very close to the Amppipal hospital.

Actually he is a farmer and works his own land but that doesn't bring him enough income to support and feed his family throughout the year. That's why he in addition trained as an electrician and worked for 20 years in Bhairawa in southern Nepal.

Hari Kumar learned about the "Stove Manufacturer Training" from an employee in the Amppipal hospital, completed his training course in March 2010 and has already built his first stoves. To date he has made six Chulos one of which is in his own home.

He designed a new chimney outlet as there was no pottery near his home. His chimney head is made from clay bricks with a lead cap (photo).

Hari wants to contribute to the development of his village and thinks that the stoves are especially valuable for improving peoples' health. "Burns can be avoided and lung infections reduced." he says.
